Best Pie Crust Recipes

Homemade Pie Crust Recipe

Ingredients For This No fail Pie Crust Recipe

* 3 cups of unbleached white flour

* 1 1/3 cups of non-hydrogenated shortening

* A pinch of sea salt

* 1 egg, beaten

* 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar

* 5 tablespoons of cold water

Directions For This Easy Pie Crust Recipe

Mix the flour and salt together.

Add the shortening and work it in with a pastry blender or two knifes. The pastry blender makes this task much easier and faster as well.

In a different bowl, put the egg, the water and the vinegar. Mix well.

Pour the water-egg mixture in the flour and mix with a fork. When mixing with a fork is no longer effective use your hands. Continue to mix until you have a nice soft round ball.

Place your dough in a bowl with a plastic over it - a dish towel works as well. Let sit for 30 minutes and up to an hour. Some cooks like to place it in the fridge. If you chose to do so, I would suggest you take it out for about 5 minutes before you try to roll it.

I - personally - never had much success rolling pie crust right out of the fridge.

Makes 2 crusts.
