Refurbished Swiss Alps Shelter
WANKEN - The Blog of Shelby White » Refurbished Swiss Alps Shelter
The ultimate creative getaways are found high within the Swiss Alps. This refurbished swiss shelter is located 6069 feet up in the Herens district. It was originally used as a shelter for livestock but in 2008 Personeni Raffaele Schärer Architects transformed it into a peaceful holiday residence.
The foundation was redone in sanded concrete instead of just stacked stone as before. In addition to the modern interior, solar panels were added outside to help provide electricity throughout the residence.

Sky Garden House / Guz Architects | ArchDaily
Sky Garden House / Guz Architects | ArchDaily
Architects: Guz Architects – Guz Wilkinson
Project architects: Caroline Witzke, Szymon Goździkowski
Location: Sentosa Island, Singapore
Project area: 852 sqm
Project year: 2010
Photographs: Patrick Bingham Hall
This house is located on a new housing estate on the island of Sentosa adjacent to Singapore. The plots are not large and neighbouring buildings are built close to the sides of each house.
Thus our strategy was to build a solid wall to each side neighbor to provide privacy where possible, while creating a central light and stair well which would funnel the sea breeze through the centre of the building. The front and rear of the building meanwhile, terrace back allowing each story to have visual or actual access to greenery.

Due to space restrictions, a mezzanine floor has been constructed by exploiting the opportunity provided by the high ceilings, without causing any interference with the original facade. A dynamic mass effect has been provided by means of mezzanine floor being suspended from the ceiling and separated from the side walls. This has also provided a functional opportunity of locating the kitchen space.

Beautiful Houses: Carqueija in Camaçari | Abduzeedo | Graphic Design Inspiration and Photoshop Tutorials
Beautiful Houses: Carqueija in Camaçari | Abduzeedo | Graphic Design Inspiration and Photoshop Tutorials:
"The Carqueija House is a project by Bento + Azevedo, the firm was founded in 2005 and produces contemporary architecture. The Carqueija House is located in Camaçari, Bahia - Brazil and when you first look at it you see something like box. The project is simple and really beautiful. In order to have the best orientation, in a tropical county, the house closes itself from the front street view, which is west, and opens into the backyard, creating a privative and integrated place. That way, on the front facade, architectural elements, as a narrow windows and a pare-soleil was used to protect the house against solar irradiation, while the back facade, on east side, completely integrate the inside with the outside, through large windows, sliding doors and a porch, connecting the house with the green area.
This house is really beautiful. I love its simplicity, the white and wide spaces and backyard with lots of green, everything is beautiful, just not sure about keeping this clean. ;)
Check out Bento + Azevedo website for further details about this and other projects. See you next time.

Forest’s quintet was conceived as a viable alternative to urban dwelling. Situated in the beautiful mountain range of Yanggu, it is a group of individual dwelling that collectively form an ideal retreat.
The relationship between each house on this 15 acre site reflect the relationship between its owners. They are either relatives and close friends; they have chose to build this dream together and retire together to this beautiful retreat. The architectural language and major material are very similar between each home. Yet, due to the special terrain each house sits on, and the differences in their living habits of each family, every house is unique.
