Where to go for great buys on baking supplies and equipments in Manila....

I found these stores where you can get great, great buys!

New Sin Kian Heng
196 Carlos Palanca St. Quiapo, Manila [Right beside Quinta Market in Quiapo, Manila]
Tel.Nos:733-2131/ 733-6871/ 733-6367/ 733-6381
Available here are loads of kitchenwares and baking equipments, lots of pans and molds to choose from at very good prices and quality. They have items from kitchen aids to pans, wilton decors, tips, whisks, stoves, ovens, spatulas and a wide array of everything you need. Just ask for assistance from friendly staffs, ask for prices so you can be properly guided. I was actually even greeted and had a short, interesting chat with the owner who even revealed that Goldilocks Cakeshop has been a long time client of their store. And he wished me luck in my baking business as well. This the kind of store, you will love to frequent and become a loyal customer.

Killion Merchandising
40 Orosco Street, Quiapo Manila
Tel. Nos. 733-8221, 733-2093
Fax 733-7036

Killion Merchandising. It is a store very near Quinta Market in Quiapo, they have most of the ingredients bakers and chefs need, some items are much cheaper for up to 40 % less compared to supermarket or grocery prices. And they have available stocks from butter to flour, sprinkles to kikiam and many more.
Additional Tips:  In front of Killion, at Nut Store, they have choco bars, choco molds at lowest prices, also canned fruits, flour, confectionary sugar, ice cones flavoring etc.  Also in Quiapo is Mostwell, they have doilies and boxes for cupcakes and cakes, for candles and souveneirs plus plastics and almost anything about crafts. For wholesale confectionary sugar of Peotraco brand, it's in Sto. Cristo St. Binondo. You won't miss it as they have a huge signage. For boxes and plastics for cakes na pastries, you can buy at Commoners,  they have most of the packaging need except boxes for cupcakes.  For other baking or kitchenware especially stainless items, you can find them in Ilaya Street in Divisoria.
Here is a listof stores I found on the net, I had them summarized but retained the writers' comments as these would be important in our choices.I have visited some of the stores and bought from them in the past like Chocolate Lovers and Cooks Exchange, but I will surely be making my own rounds of "inspection" of these shops in the days to come. It goes:

1. Chocolate Lovers

[Chocolate Lovers carries almost anything you need from ingredients to packaging. Take the MRT and alight at Cubao station. Exit at the opposite side of Farmers Plaza. Find the tricycle queue either outside HBC store or the ones near Edsa and ask the driver to take you to Chocolate Lovers. If you see the "castle" that's Chocolate Lovers. [You won't miss this big castle along P.Tuazon.] Some things you couldn't get from them: Corrugated Boards, big cake boxes, big icing tips.]

2. Chef's Nook

[It's a small and neat store. They sometimes have specialized packaging. Via MRT, go down at Boni station, Mandaluyong side. Take a tricycle at the back of the tiangge. If the driver doesn't know where Sweetcraft is, tell him it's in front of RTU (Rizal Technical University). One thing I would never buy from them: marshmallows!]

[It's a small store across Shopwise and Santana Grove in Sucat but they almost have anything you need from ingredients to packaging. Some good reasons to buy from them: friendly staff, variety of box sizes especially bigger sizes, can buy bigger boxes by pieces, they have corrugated boards.]

OTHERS:
a. Supermarkets - You can buy most basic ingredients like baking powder, baking soda, sugar, oil, butter, cheese in the supermarket [preferred: SM Megamall Supermarket Bldg. B ] Price difference isn't really that much but the convenience of not having to go to the specialty store is priceless.
b. Department Stores - For baking utensils, Landmark has a variety to choose from and they're cheaper too. SM Malls also have Wilton and other branded products. Wilton products from Divisoria more expensive.
c. Cooks Exchange - Glorietta 4, SM Megamall Bldg. A
[ Prices at this store, especially for ingredients, are more expensive but if you are buying just a thing or two or a small portion of an ingredient, you would hardly notice.]
d. Guordo's - Glorietta 4, Gateway, The Fort and The Podium (under the name LIVING WELL) Living Well at the Podium carries the most extensive line of Wilton products.
[ Gourdo’s is the official reseller of Wilton Items in the Philippines. Wilton is the number one brand for cake decorating items worldwide. You can visit their webstore to order online or know their branch locations. Tel.No.812-3022 Gourdo’s also delivers. Wbsite: www.gourdos.com]

e.  RM Boxes - For boxes and packaging needs. Some boxes in Chocolate Lovers and other suppliers are actually from them.

I am no professional baker or chef (just a wanna-be for now) but we'll get there in time. In sha Allah. Afterall, DREAMS just got to start somewhere, and it starts right here, right now!
