The ultimate creative getaways are found high within the Swiss Alps. This refurbished swiss shelter is located 6069 feet up in the Herens district. It was originally used as a shelter for livestock but in 2008 Personeni Raffaele Schärer Architects transformed it into a peaceful holiday residence.

The foundation was redone in sanded concrete instead of just stacked stone as before. In addition to the modern interior, solar panels were added outside to help provide electricity throughout the residence.

Have you ever seen a rolling house? Maybe you’ve seen a rolling castle on Robin Hood Men in Tights, but Olson Kundig Architects have created rolling huts that you can actually live in. The huts are low-impact to the nature and sit in a flood plain in a river valley near Mazama, Washington.

The huts are grouped much like a herd of cattle and are mainly used as weekend retreats. You can actually put a reservation on one of the huts for $125 per night. Each hut is equipped with a small refrigerator, fireplace and Wi-Fi.

The project, located at the shores of the Obersee in Switzerland, will house the headquarters of the internationally recognized landscape architecture firm Enea Garden Design. It emerges from the site as a wooden volume, discrete and elegant, and blends with the landscape as it responds to the natural environment, boundary lines and zoning conditions. After the break are drawings and photographs of this new headquarters.

The new Automotive Centre of Excellence (ACE) in Melbourne’s Docklands accommodates a dedicated training and showcase facility for Australia’s automotive trades and manufacturing. It consists of high-bay workshop spaces, specialist workrooms, classrooms and office accommodation. A strategy was needed to develop an appropriate civic scale for this small public building in the context of its surrounding commercial urbanscape.

Chosen as a 2010 AIA/COTE Top Ten Green Project the ambitious goals for Kroon Hall encompassed taking a brownfield site crowded by looming and gloomy brownstone edifices – an area replete with dumpsters, pavement, and an aging power plant – and establish a building that would bring light, openness, and a connection to the natural world.
