Get Connected with the Holy Qur’an
~ Begin with Wudhu (ablution). Doing your Wudu will remind you that you're not about to read 'just' another book. You are about to interact with Allah, so being clean should be your priority before communicating with Him (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala).
~ If you are not into the habit of reading the Qur’an, start with only 10 minutes everyday. If you take care of step one, Insha Allah, you will notice that those 10 minutes will become 20, then half an hour, then an hour, and maybe even more!
~ Ten minutes of reading the Qur'an in Arabic is good, but you need to understand what you’ve read. Have a good translation of the Qur'an in the language you understand best. When you read the Qur’anic text, read it’s translation the same day.
~ A number of people think books are passive. But the Qur'an is not ‘just’ a book. Remember that when you read the Qur'an, you are interacting with Allah. He (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala) is talking to you, so pay attention.
~ Make Duaa. Ask Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala) to guide you when you read the Qur'an. You must aim to sincerely, for the love of Allah, interact with Him by reading, understanding and implementing His blessed words in your life.
